American Museum Bath
May 10, 2012
Jeffry Wyattville built Claverton manor in 1820. In the late 1950’s it became the home of the American Museum in Britain. Inside the Manor there are 18 period rooms that show the development of American decorative art from 1680 to the 1860’s.
In addition there are galleries devoted to Folk Art, Native American art and a large collection of quilts and other textiles.
The extensive grounds contain a replica of part of the garden at Mount Vernon, George Washington’s house in Virginia, and an Arboretum of North American trees and shrubs.
Light luncheons and teas are available.
We should arrive around 12 and leave at 4.30 pm. There will be a coffee en route to Bath.
Prices: Members £26 / Non Members £27
