Talk: Poole Project, talk by Hazel Crabb & Oliver

April 10, 2026 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Coasts in Mind

10th April 2026 — Poole Project, talk by Hazel Crabb & Oliver

Coasts in Mind Dorset is a three-year community heritage project focused on mapping coastal change around Poole Harbour and other vulnerable coastal areas. Led by Museum of London Archaeology and supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, it enables local residents to record memories, images, and documents, building a community archive to evidence change in the landscape. Through free workshops, creative projects, and local training, Coasts in Mind empowers people to preserve their coastal heritage and influence understanding and policy for the future.

Hazel is the Community Archaeologist for the Coasts in Mind project, based in Dorset. She works with the people and communities of Poole Harbour and the surrounding landscape to gather memories and stories of coastal change, helping to build a new community archive for the area. After spending a few years in Sussex, Hazel is pleased to return to Dorset and contribute to a project that puts community involvement at its centre.

Purbeck Society talks are held in the Mowlem Community Room, located in Swanage.

Talks start at 2:30pm (doors open at 2:15pm).

Talks are free to members, non-members £3.

Tea/coffee available after the talk.
