Jeffry Wyattville built Claverton manor in 1820. In the late 1950’s it became the home of the American Museum in Britain. Inside the Manor there are 18 period rooms that show the development of American decorative art from 1680 to the 1860’s.

In addition there are galleries devoted to Folk Art, Native American art and a large collection of quilts and other textiles.

Founded in 1683, the Ashmolean is Britain’s first public museum and home to the University of Oxford’s world –class collections of art and archology.

It has recently opened six new galleries for the collections of Ancient Egypt and Nubia.
