Cliff Cottage tour and afternoon tea

June 19 @ 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Cliff Cottage

Jessica has been researching the history of Cliff Cottage which probably began life as fishermen shed, stores and rough homes. It began to be gentrified in 1844 when the Phippard family from Wareham bought a 90 year lease on “the house by the beach” from John Mowlem.

Judge John Edwin Hewick resided there from 1897 until 1933 when my grandfather, Col. Vivian Muspratt bought the house. During those years the building was altered and added to by all it’s residents, so much so that English Heritage refused to list it.

Jessica continues to unravel this story and kindly offered to give a tour around Cliff Cottage with afternoon tea on the lawn (weather permitting).
