Wessex Archaeological Arne Excavations Tour

May 23 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Wessex Archaeological Arne Excavations Tour

As part of the Purbeck Heaths National Nature reserve project, a new water habitat for wildlife and wading birds is being constructed by construction company Kier. As part of pre construction archaeological assessment works last year, trial trenches revealed evidence of historical activity. As a consequence Wessex Archaeological Trust are carrying out further excavations in 2024.

Purbeck Society members and guests have been invited, along with other local organisations to visit the excavations on Thursday 23rd May from 5.30-7.30pm, after construction workers have finished for the day.

Sam Fieldhouse and his colleagues from Wessex Archaeology will give a sit down talk at the Keir headquarters and a site tour of the excavations.

Because of the location of the site, they will transport visitors from Kier premises, where visitors can park, to the excavations. It is suggested guests wear suitable footwear.

Please contact Karen Delahay on 01929 425049 or text 07730680579 if you wish to attend.

If you are uncertain where the car park is located, you can use What3Words (https://w3w.co/deals.claims.damage).
