In January and February, only the ground floor space in the house is open for an exhibition, Rediscovering Kingston Lacy.
The exhibition will display maps and surveys of the estate from the Bankes Archive. This is the first time these articles will be on display in the house.
Details of opening times etc. are on the Kingston Lacy website: Kingston Lacy
Here’s some comments from someone who went:
‘Just to flag up small exhibition on at Kingston Lacy at the moment (until end of Feb) about the estate before the current house was built. It includes some fascinating early maps of Purbeck e.g. Treswell 16th century, and is well worth a visit, though perhaps try not to go at weekends. Take a pair of opera glasses if you have them to study the fascinating details! (The rest of the house is shut though, apart from the servants’ hall and the Egyptian room.)’
