Visit to Ashmolean Museum Oxford

Visit to Ashmolean Museum Oxford – Tuesday 12th June 2012

Our first pick up was at 8.30 am and with Sue as our driver we proceeded to Oxford.

En route we had a comfort stop at the Services on the A34 and arrived in Oxford late morning.

The weather was cloudy with a cold wind. Sue parked the coach right outside the Museum and some of us had lunch in the Museum before viewing.
The Museum underwent major development in 2009 and again in 2011 with new galleries focusing on Egypt and Nubia.

The main museum contains huge collections of archaeology specimens. It also houses one of the best collections of Pre Raphaelite paintings, majolicia pottery, English Silver.

All enjoyed their visit and were amazed at the extensive collection in the building and especially the Egyptian Gallery.

Sue again collected us form the main enterance.

We left for home at 4.30 pm.
